XDS: Debating and Quizzing Festival 2009

The Xaverian Debating Society (XDS) in keeping with the 150 years celebrations of of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, shall be hosting The Xaverian Debating and Quizzing Festival, from 19th February to 21st February, 2009.

The festival has been organized in keeping with our institute’s aim of pursuing and nurturing excellence in every field and we hope to attract teams from India and abroad. The event will have a Debate and Quiz competition running simultaneously and independent of each other, with a Total Prize Money of approx. Rs. 5.5 Lakhs (five hundred and fifty thousand INR).(click here for details)

The Debate event will be held in two phases incorporating one round of Conventional (Policy) debating and subsequent rounds of Parliamentary ’2-on-2′ style formats. The quiz event will also be held in two phases incorporating four preliminary specialized quizzes and knockouts. A detailed description of the Quiz and Debate events is available for download.

For the debate event, every institution can register up to 2 teams, each team consisting of 2 speakers and an accompanying adjudicator and for the Quiz event, up to 2 teams can register, each consisting of 3 quizzers. However, the participation of the second team is subject to the team caps being met.
