Purpose of Scholarship: Post Graduate
Scholarship Details:
-The JN Tata Endowment was set up in 1892 by the founder of the Tata group, Jamsetji N Tata, to encourage young people to take up higher studies at some of the best universities in the world. It is the first Tata benefaction in the field of education, and possibly the first of its kind in Asia.
-Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the J. N. TATA Endowment Loan Scholarships for the academic year 2009 –2010 for higher studies abroad in all disciplines and subjects. Selected scholars may also qualify for gift awards .

Residency Status: Indian Citizen
How to Apply:
-Prescribed application forms will be available from the Administrative Office of the Endowment at Mulla House, 51 M.G. Road, Fort, Mumbai 400 001 from December 8, 2008 to February 16,2009.
-Completed application forms should reach the office of the Endowment not later than February 27, 2009.
-Last date of submission: 27 February
Selection Process:
Eligibility :
-Applicants who are :
-Indian nationals
-Graduates of a recognised Indian university with a consistently good academic record; or
-Students in the final year of the degree course; or
-Mid-career professionals planning to go abroad for further research, specialization or training.
-At the time of submitting the completed applications, candidates need not have the admission / offer letters from the universities to which they have applied for the academic year 2009-2010.
Selection Process:
-After the initial screening of applications, candidates will be shortlisted for an interview in person by subject experts.
-The final selection will be made on the basis of the interview which will be held in Mumbai between March and June 2009.
Amount of Scholarship:
The amount to be awarded to each scholar by way of loan and gift scholarship is determined on the basis of norms laid down for the purpose, and ranges from Rs 1 lacs to Rs 0.4 million 4 lacs
